Teaching to read in English in my school is a challenging moment for teachers. We work hard to engage students into the habit of reading. After that we proceed to work on the skills of comprehension and fluency. We must be careful with our curriculum because we have some standard formats but we live in a country where Spanish is the main language. By learning about strategies and using internet we have been acquiring more appropriate approaches and methods to use in our classrooms.

  1. Hi Yariela, interesting video! It just reminded me of what is becoming popular in language schools here in Brazil: storytelling. It is a nice way to attract children`s atttention to stories and make them develop a positive feeling towards books. I am sure there are nowadays hundreds of sites dedicated to teach reading skills to young learners!

  2. Yes it is Vinicious and gives ideas to children to use their imagination when they are given tasks to create their own stories. I am working on journals with them and it has been so rewarding see students expressing their wonderful ideas in a written paper. Right now I am not focused on grammar ,only in coherence and sequence of events when narrate. This monday we are going to watch a video through this site, I will let you know how it works.

Thanks for visiting my blog and taking your time to read. thanks for your comments.
